Sex is Personal
Sex-positive, trauma-informed therapy for individuals and partners exploring desire, pleasure, intimacy, and sexual wellbeing.
Services
Telehealth Throughout Washington
Sex can be vulnerable to talk about. Telehealth allows you to have those conversations from the privacy and familiarity of your own space—without the commute, waiting room, or having to walk back out into the world immediately afterward.
All sessions are offered virtually to clients located throughout Washington State.
Sex Therapy
Sex is personal, complicated, and shaped by far more than what happens in the bedroom. Sex therapy offers a place to explore desire, pleasure, intimacy, identity, communication, shame, and the experiences that shape your relationship with sexuality.
My approach is sex-positive, feminist, and trauma-informed, with an emphasis on autonomy, curiosity, and defining a sexual life that reflects your own values and desires.
Relational Therapy
Whether you’re married, partnered, dating, or navigating a consensually non-monogamous or polyamorous relationship, my work with partners centers on sex, sexuality, and intimacy. Sex therapy can offer space to explore differences in desire, changes in sexual connection, communication about sex, pleasure, boundaries, and what you want from your shared sexual relationship.
Individual Psychotherapy
Individual sex therapy is a space to explore your relationship with sex and sexuality on your own terms. Our work might include desire, pleasure, sexual functioning, body image, shame, boundaries, intimacy, identity, or simply understanding what you want from your sexual life. For some, past experiences or trauma are part of that story; for others, they aren’t. My approach is trauma-informed without assuming that sexual concerns are rooted in trauma.
Kaitlyn Hollingshead LMHC
I’m a licensed mental health counselor specializing in sex therapy, trauma, and women’s mental health.
I’m a woman, a mother, a feminist, and a therapist who believes deeply in your right to belong to yourself. Your body, sexuality, desires, boundaries, and choices are yours to define.
My style is warm, direct, curious, and honest. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can talk openly about the things we’re often taught to keep quiet—sex, shame, pleasure, anger, relationships, identity, motherhood, and everything in between.
I’m not interested in telling you the “right” way to live. I’m interested in helping you understand yourself, question what no longer fits, and make choices that reflect your own values.
Above all, I believe you are the authority on your own life.
Belong to yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Sex therapy is talk therapy focused on sex, sexuality, intimacy, and sexual wellbeing. We might explore desire, pleasure, sexual functioning, identity, communication, shame, boundaries, past experiences, or simply what you want your relationship with sexuality to look like. There is no single definition of a healthy or fulfilling sex life.
-
Yes. My practice is LGBTQ+ and kink affirming. I welcome diverse sexualities, gender identities, relationship structures, and consensual sexual interests. I approach sexuality with curiosity rather than judgment and don't assume there is one “right” way to experience sex, relationships, or desire.
-
Absolutely. I welcome clients across religious and spiritual traditions, including but not limited to Christian and Pagan traditions, witchcraft, and earth-based spiritualities, as well as clients who are atheist, agnostic, or nonreligious.
Faith and spirituality can be meaningful parts of identity, sexuality, relationships, and how we understand ourselves, and they are welcome in our work when they are important to you. My role is not to change your beliefs or ask you to share mine. Therapy is centered on your values and what matters to you.
-
Yes. I work with people experiencing compulsive sexual behavior, sometimes described as “sex addiction,” including when sexual behaviors have caused harm to themselves, their relationships, or others.
I approach this work without shame while still making room for accountability, consent, and the impact of our choices. Treatment can focus on understanding patterns of sexual behavior, developing greater choice and control, and building a relationship with sexuality that is both fulfilling and aligned with your values.
